Training Program

Flying Star Stables specializes in colt starting.  We offer full and part-time training options. We recommend two to three months of schooling for the unstarted horse.  Most youngsters start with ground manners, grooming, leading and tacking. Many youngsters require a couple of weeks of ponying to build muscle for preparing for lunging and long lining training. Long lining and lunging teaches the youngster to be balanced and supple. This prepares the young horse for mounting and accepting its first rider.  After showing confidence on the lunge line with the rider the youngster is soon on his own with his first rider. Please contact us to reserve a space as we fill up for the summer months quickly. All horses in full training have daily turnout. We specialize each horse’s feed to meet their training and dietary needs.

Flying Star Stables also tunes and refines the more advanced horse.  We also show the young or advanced horse at both Regional and National levels and can incorporate a training/competitive package to suit your individual needs.
